Selection criteria 2027

Eligibility Guidelines

Age: Nominees must be 39 years of age or younger throughout the calendar year in which they are being considered.

Residency: Nominees must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada.

Canadians Working Abroad: Individuals who are temporarily living and working outside Canada may be considered, provided they have been abroad for no more than two years, intend to return to Canada, maintain meaningful ties to the country, and have made a significant contribution to Canada through their professional achievements.

Professional Athletes, Entertainers and Musicians: Individuals whose primary occupation is as a professional athlete, entertainer, or musician are not eligible, as these professions have numerous dedicated recognition programs. Should they subsequently pursue a career in a sector recognized by the program, they may become eligible.

Elected Officials: Individuals serving as elected public officials are not eligible for consideration.

Previous Recipients: Previous recipients of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 are not eligible for reconsideration, as the award is only granted once.

Nominee Submissions must be completed online

Advisory Board meets to select the Top 40

4 October 2027 (TBC)
National Celebrations (held in Toronto) 
NOTE: If the nominee is selected to receive the award, they will be expected to attend all events in person
