Dr. Abbas Jessani is a tenured Associate Professor and a Clinician Scientist in the Division of Dental Public Health at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, where he also serves as Director of the Community Service-Learning Program and Co-Director of the Global Health Systems Graduate Program. His work focuses on advancing oral health equity through community-engaged research, education, and health systems innovation.
Abbas founded several oral health outreach and research initiatives that improve access to care for underserved populations, including people living with HIV, LGBTQ+ communities, Indigenous Peoples, refugees, youth experiencing homelessness, and other marginalized groups across Ontario and East Africa. His research translates into policy and practice through strong community partnerships and has secured more than $3 million in competitive funding. An award-winning educator and researcher, Abbas is committed to building equitable healthcare systems and training the next generation of socially conscious health professionals.
