Joelle is CEO of Area One Farms, an alternative asset management firm she co-founded in 2012. Joelle created a farmer-centric private equity model to simultaneously help scale Canadian family farms and deliver premium investor returns. She has raised three funds and invested approximately $300 million in the acquisition and improvement of over 120,000 acres. Joelle holds degrees in Engineering and Business from Western; Law from Oxford; and a Masters of Laws and Certificate of Biodesign from Stanford University. She is a Rhodes Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, a member of the New York Bar Association, on the list of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100, and one of EY’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women. She was recently named named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
