Dr. Karlee Silver and Ms. Jocelyn Mackie are Co-Chief Executive Officers of Grand Challenges Canada (www.grandchallenges.ca), together providing leadership for all aspects of the innovation platform. Karlee focuses on setting strategy to enable the programs, investments, and knowledge management teams to source, support, and transition to scale promising innovations for social impact in low- and middle-income countries and soon with Indigenous innovators in Canada. Jocelyn focuses on setting and communicating the platform’s strategy and impact with funders and partners, while overseeing the organization’s operations, deal structuring and negotiations, risk mitigation and financial management. Karlee received her doctorate in genetics and immunology as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford. Jocelyn received her Honours Business degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and her Masters of Science and Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto. While not focused on saving & improving the lives of vulnerable people through innovation, Karlee spends her time with her partner and dog at her country home in Prince Edward County, and Jocelyn spends her time with her husband, three kids, two step-daughters, and when she can, taking dance lessons!
