2017

Chief Executive Officer
Camp Oochigeas

Alex Robertson is the Chief Executive Officer at Camp Ooch, leading a team of over 60 staff and over 450 annual volunteers. In 1983 an ambitious group of volunteers banded together to form a summer camp unlike any other in Canada. Exclusively serving children with cancer, Camp Oochigeas (Ooch) is a privately funded camp, completely free for every child, providing the opportunity to explore enriching, challenging, fun experiences through what is fondly referred to as the Magic of Ooch. In his role, Alex oversees the entire management of the organization including programming, operations, finance, and development. Camp Ooch serves over 1,500 children with and affected by cancer and their families each year, and continues to be the only overnight camp in Ontario to offer onsite IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions. Often referred to as the social cure of cancer, Ooch has expanded programs year-round in Muskoka, at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), McMaster Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre and Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and Ooch Downtown.
