Dr. Aristotle Voineskos is Director of the Slaight Family Centre for Youth in Transition, at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. The Slaight Centre is Canada's first dedicated to understanding and treating severe mental illness and addictions for youth. The main goal of the Slaight Centre is to put more young people experiencing severe mental illness on a path to recovery through a combination of outstanding clinical care, research, and education. Aristotle is also a Canada Research Chair and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. His own research has made major advances in the neurobiology of mental illnesses across the lifespan in psychiatric brain disorders. He has developed new ways of combining brain imaging and genetics, and has also developed an international reputation in multi-centre brain imaging studies dedicated toward a better understanding and treatment of mental illness. In a short time Aristotle has won a number of national and international awards for his work, holds several major federal grants from Canada and the US, and has already trained a number of outstanding young scientists who are going on to major achievement themselves.
